Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT)
Children of all ages need complete health check-ups on a regular basis to protect their health and their future.
With scheduled check-ups, minor health problems in children can be caught before they become serious. This wellness program is designed to identify at an early age physical or mental conditions which may create problems for a child. It is a program for children from birth to age 21 who are eligible for Medicaid. under the EPSDT program, children are checked for medical problems early. There are specific tests and treatments as they grow older. Some of the procedures completed during this examination are as follows:
Medical History and Physical Exam
Lab Tests Including Blood Lead Level
Teeth
Immunizations
Nutritional Assessments
Developmental Testing
Health Education For Parents
Basic Vision Test(Jessamine County Health Department does not staff a licensed Ophthalmologist)
Basic Hearing Test(Jessamine County Health Department does not staff a licensed Audiologist)
If your child is a resident a Jessamine County and they receive an EPSDT exam, they will qualify for one of our incentives. The examination can be performed by Jessamine County Health Department or by a private physician. If your child receives their EPSDT exam along with the child's Medicaid card in order to receive the incentive.
